Telegram Setup

Connect Telegram to Hicio so your AI assistant can handle customer support messages automatically.

What This Does

This setup allows Hicio to automatically respond to customer messages in Telegram. Your AI assistant will handle inquiries 24/7 and can escalate complex issues to human support when needed.

Setup Time

⏱️ This setup takes about 3-5 minutes — most of the time is spent creating the bot with BotFather. The Hicio connection takes less than a minute.

Create a Telegram Bot
Create a bot through BotFather on Telegram to get your bot token.
  1. Open Telegram and search for @BotFather
  2. Start a conversation and send /newbot
  3. Choose a name for your bot (e.g., "Your Company Support")
  4. Choose a username ending in 'bot' (e.g., "yourcompany_support_bot")
  5. Copy the bot token provided by BotFather — save this somewhere safe

Important: Keep your bot token secure and never share it publicly.

Add Bot to Hicio
Connect your Telegram bot to Hicio using just the bot token.
  1. Go to your Hicio dashboard
  2. Navigate to Integrations → Telegram
  3. Paste your bot token in the configuration form
  4. Configure your AI assistant's personality and responses
  5. Click "Save" — Hicio handles all the webhook setup automatically

Test It Works
Verify that your Telegram integration is working properly.
  • Find your bot on Telegram and send /start
  • Ask a test question to see if the AI responds
  • If everything looks right, Telegram is successfully connected

If Something Goes Wrong

Bot doesn't respond

Check that your bot token is correct and that the bot is active in Hicio.

Need to update bot settings

You can always go back to @BotFather to change your bot's name, description, or profile picture.

Things You Don't Need to Worry About

Hicio handles all the technical stuff automatically:

  • • Webhooks — Hicio sets up the webhook URL automatically
  • • Message routing — All incoming messages are handled by our system
  • • Bot commands — You can add these later if you want, but they're optional
  • • Server configuration — Everything runs on our infrastructure
